Dates & Registration:
Swoop Camp Spirit accommodates 75 students, and reservations will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. We encourage you to sign up early! Swoop Camp Spirit is open to all first-year students, and is especially encouraged for out-of-state students as a way to get to know your new home! Even students who are from Utah will benefit from this experience.
During Swoop Camp Spirit, all students will spend their time in the heart of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. Students can expect to stay in wood cabin facilities with multiple bunk beds that will be shared with students and student leaders of the same gender. Separate gender bathroom facilities are also on site. Swoop Camp provides all meals and snacks for each day and meeting to dietary restrictions when needed. Swoop Camp provides your transportation from campus to the campsite and all equipment needed for camp, however, you will be responsible for bringing your own sleeping bag or twin bed sheets AND a pillow. The cost for Swoop Camp Spirit is $199 per student. This fee covers all lodging, transportation, meals, and equipment for the four day, three night camp.
A limited number of scholarships for Swoop Camp Spirit are available for students with an Expected Family Contribution of zero on their FAFSA. Please contact our office to learn more.
Refunds for Swoop Camp Adventure can be issued up until 14 days before the session,
less $20 for administrative fees. Within 14 days of a registered session, no refunds
will be issued.
Swoop Camp Spirit is organized by the Center for New Student & Family Programs, and
is staffed by professionals, graduate assistants, and undergraduate Swoop Camp Captains
from our office. The Swoop Camp staff is trained to help ease the transition of new
students to the U and serve as a resource and guide throughout the first year of college.
